About this project
This emotional project was taken up by tribe. to celebrate mothers on Mother’s Day and pay homage to the late poet Prof. Oliver Friggieri, who had only just passed away a few months before. When, on the passing of Prof. Friggieri, our team decided to delve into his poetry for inspiration, it wasn’t long before we discovered this emotional tribute to the poet’s mother.
Our team wanted to convey the highest level of emotion for this piece, which is why we chose to shoot in Prof. Friggieri’s own home office – the very place from where most of his literature emerged. The author’s family was reallywelcomed our team with open arms.
Narration was entrusted to Mr Albert Marshall and Mrs Karmen Azzopardi; two very distinct and unique voices. tribe. had worked previously with Mrs Azzopardi, and she was thrilled to be part of this project. Due to her deteriorating health, and because of COVID-19 concerns at the time of shooting, the team set up a temporary recording studio at her home where Mrs Azzopardi was able to narrate her part over a warm cup of tea, some biscuits and in between a few deep philosophical discussions.
Unfortunately, a few months after the publishing of this production, Mrs Karmen Azzopardi passed away on the 16th of March 2022, at the age of 88.
We dedicate this piece to the memories of Prof. Oliver Friggieri and Mrs Karmen Azzopardi – two giants in their own worlds.
This production was shot using ARRI Alexa Mini.
